An Act to make an additional Endowment for the Milton Athenaeum.

  • Preamble

    WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto has been withdrawn from sale, and it is expedient to vest the same in the Trustees of the Milton Athenaeum, incorporated under The Milton Athenaeum Reserve Act 1876 [Repealed]:

    The Milton Athenaeum Reserve Act 1876 was repealed, as from 21 October 1949, by section 31(6) Reserves and other Lands Disposal Act 1949 (1949 No 34).

BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Short Title
  • The Short Title of this Act shall be The Milton Athenaeum Endowment Act 1878.

2 Lands vested in Milton Athenaeum for endowment
  • On the passing of this Act the land described in the Schedule hereto shall, without any grant or conveyance, be vested in the Trustees of the Milton Athenaeum, incorporated under the provisions of The Milton Athenaeum Reserve Act 1876 [Repealed], and shall be held by them for the purposes of the said Act.

    The Milton Athenaeum Reserve Act 1876 was repealed, as from 21 October 1949, by section 31(6) Reserves and other Lands Disposal Act 1949 (1949 No 34).


Schedule

All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Otago, in the Colony of New Zealand, containing by admeasurement one hundred and fifty (150) acres three (3) roods and twenty (20) poles, more or less, situate in the Akatore Survey District, being parts of Sections numbered respectively ten (10) and twelve (12), Block one (1), on the map of the said district. Bounded towards the North by Section numbered 8, one thousand one hundred and twenty-five (1125) links; towards the North-east by two road lines, seven thousand one hundred and twenty (7120) links; towards the South by Section numbered 14, five thousand and sixty (5060) links; and towards the West by Sections numbered respectively 9 and 1 of 11, five thousand two hundred and forty (5240) links, and intersected by two (2) road lines each fifty (50) links wide.
