Riverton Harbour Endowment and Borrowing Act 1878

An Act to vest certain Lands as an Endowment for the Riverton Harbour, and to empower the Harbour Board to borrow Money for the Improvement of the said Harbour.

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Short Title
  • The Short Title of this Act shall be The Riverton Harbour Endowment and Borrowing Act 1878.

2 Endowment for Riverton Harbour Board
  • The lands described in the Schedule hereto are hereby set aside as an endowment for the said Harbour Board.

Borrowing powers.

3 Loan of $4,000 authorized
  • For the purpose of constructing harbour works within the port of Riverton, the Board may borrow and raise any sum or sums of money not exceeding in the whole four thousand dollars.

    The expression four thousand dollars was substituted, as from 10 July 1967, for the expression two thousand pounds pursuant to section 7(1) Decimal Currency Act 1964 (1964 No 27).


Schedule

All that area in the Southland Division of the Provincial District of Otago, in the Colony of New Zealand, situated between high- and low-water mark of the Jacob's River Estuary, adjacent to the Town of Riverton, and containing by admeasurement five (5) acres, more or less. Bounded by a line commencing at the junction of Palmerston Street, Town of Riverton, and the bridge which spans the Jacob's River Estuary, and proceeding south-easterly along high-water mark, one thousand two hundred and ninety (1290) links, to the ferryhouse; thence southerly by a line bearing 33° 53′, two hundred and fourteen (214) links, to low-water mark; thence northerly along low-water mark one thousand four hundred and ninety (1490) links, to the said bridge; and thence by a line proceeding along the aforesaid bridge, one hundred and ninety (190) links, to the starting point: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the Survey Office, Invercargill.

All that area in the Southland Division of the Provincial District of Otago, in the Colony of New Zealand, situated between high- and low-water mark of the Jacob's River Estuary, adjacent to the Town of Riverton, and containing by admeasurement ten (10) acres two (2) roods, more or less. Bounded by a line commencing at a point on the boundary of low-water mark forty-five (45) links north-west of the powder magazine, and proceeding in a south-easterly direction on a bearing of 138° 56′, one thousand and five (1005) links, to high-water mark at the Railway Station; thence southerly by high-water mark, one thousand nine hundred and fifty (1950) links, to the junction of Palmerston Street, Town of Riverton, and the bridge which spans the said Jacob's River Estuary; thence by a line proceeding along the aforesaid bridge, one hundred and sixty (160) links, to low-water mark; thence by low-water mark, two thousand six hundred and fifty (2650) links, to the starting point: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the Survey Office, Invercargill.

All that area in the Southland Division of the Provincial District of Otago, in the Colony of New Zealand, situated between high- and low-water mark of the Jacob's River Estuary, adjacent to the Town of Riverton, and containing by admeasurement seven (7) acres two (2) roods, more or less. Bounded by a line commencing at Dallas Point, and proceeding along high-water mark, two thousand one hundred and fifty (2150) links, to Lee's Point; thence along high-water mark and a road line, three thousand three hundred and five (3305) links, to the starting point: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the Survey Office, Invercargill.
