An Act to transfer to the Hospital Board of the North Canterbury Hospital District the Buildings used for the Purposes of the Christchurch Hospital, and the Grounds thereof or connected therewith.

  • Preamble

    [Repealed]

    The Preamble to this Act was repealed, as from 19 November 1907, by section 2 Statutes Repeal Act 1907 (1907 No 40).

BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Short Title

  • The Short Title of this Act is The Christchurch Hospital Act 1887.

2 Lands whereon hospital and fever ward constructed granted in fee to Board of North Canterbury Hospital District

  • The lands described in Schedules 1 and 2 hereto are hereby vested in the Board of the North Canterbury Hospital District for an estate in fee-simple, to be held by the said Board for the purposes of the Christchurch Hospital.

3 Lands used as kitchen- and pleasure-gardens vested in Board, in trust, to be used for such purposes only

  • The lands described in Schedules 3 and 4 hereto are hereby vested in the above-mentioned Board in trust for the purposes of a kitchen-garden and of pleasure-gardens and recreation-grounds respectively for the use of the inmates of the aforesaid hospital, and for no other purposes; and so that the said Board shall not at any time erect, or permit to be erected, any buildings or constructions of any kind thereon, except such as may be approved by the Domain Board having the control of the lands in Hagley Park.

Schedule 1

ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canterbury, containing by admeasurement 5 acres 2 roods, more or less, being part of Hagley Park, situate in the Christchurch Survey District, and bounded towards the north by a creek running into the River Avon, west of and near to its intersection by Antigua Street; towards the east by said river, also by Antigua Street 205 links; towards the south-east and south-west by the Lincoln and Riccarton Roads, 1240 links; and towards the west by a line bearing north 4° 37′ west, 393 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Survey Office, Christchurch.

Schedule 2

ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canterbury, containing by admeasurement 1 acre and 32 perches, more or less, being part of Hagley Park, situate in the Christchurch Survey District, and bounded towards the north-east by the creek which forms the northern boundary of the old hospital ground; towards the east by the said ground, 393 links; towards the south-west by the Riccarton Road, 408 links; and towards the north-west by a line bearing north 13° 52′ east, 356 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Survey Office, Christchurch.

Schedule 3

ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canterbury, containing by admeasurement 1 acre and 34 perches, more or less, being part of Hagley Park, situate in the Christchurch Survey District, and bounded towards the north-west by a right line bearing north 13° 52′ east, being the production in a northerly direction of the north-western boundary of the proposed extension of the hospital grounds for a fever ward, 392 links; towards the north-east by a right line, 306 links; towards the south-east and east by right lines, 421 links and 30 links respectively; and towards the south by a creek running into the River Avon: as the same is delineated on the plan in the Survey Office, Christchurch.

Schedule 4

ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canterbury, containing by admeasurement 5 acres 2 roods 32 perches, more or less, being part of Hagley Park, situate in the Christchurch Survey District, and bounded towards the north-east by the River Avon; towards the south by a creek running into the said River Avon, west of and near its intersection by Antigua Street; towards the west by a right line, 30 links; and towards the north-west by right lines, 556 links and 368 links respectively: as the same is delineated on the plan in the Survey Office, Christchurch.
