An Act to vest the Control and Management of certain Portions of Road- or Street-lines in the Township of Opawa in the Waimate High School Board.

  • Preamble

    WHEREAS under and by virtue of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, shortly intituled The Waimate High School Act 1883 certain sections of land enumerated in the Schedule to the said Act, and therein described as part of reserve number one thousand two hundred and thirteen, Township of Opawa, were vested in the Waimate High School Board (hereinafter termed the Board): And whereas by section forty-one of The Special Powers And Contracts Act 1884, authority was given to the School Commissioners of Canterbury and to the Board to effect an exchange of certain of the said sections for certain other sections forming part of the said reserve number one thousand two hundred and thirteen: And whereas the said exchange having been effected there are now vested in the Board the following sections within the said reserve number one thousand two hundred and thirteen, to wit, sections twelve to twenty-five forty-four to fifty-eight, eighty-one to ninety-five, one hundred and four to one hundred and twenty, all numbers inclusive: And whereas the said sections are divided by certain road-lines marked on the plan of the said Township of Opawa as Baker Street, Duke Street, and Princess Street respectively, which said road-lines have never been dedicated to the use of the public, and are not required for purposes of public traffic: And whereas it is expedient to vest the control and management of the same or portions of the same in the Board, with power, if it shall so think fit, from time to time, to close Baker Street, and such parts of Duke Street and Princess Street as intersect that portion of the said reserve number one thousand two hundred and thirteen which is vested in the Board:

BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
