Otago University Reserves Vesting Act 1893

An Act to provide for the Vesting in the University of Otago, and the Management, of a certain Reserve known as the Benmore Run.

BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Short Title

  • The Short Title of this Act is The Otago University Reserves Vesting Act 1893.

2 Act incorporated with Act of 1881

  • This Act shall be read and construed with and as a part of The Otago University Reserves Vesting Act 1881, as if they were one enactment, save that the provisions hereof shall be construed as paramount to the provisions of the said Act.

3 Land in Schedule vested in University

  • The land mentioned and described in the Schedule to the said Act, and to this Act, is hereby vested in the University of Otago.

4 Land not subject to Land Acts

  • The said land shall no longer be subject to the provisions of The Land Act 1877, The Land Act 1885, or The Land Act 1892, or any of them, or any amendment thereof.

5 Land held by University subject to restriction of its other land

  • The said land shall be held by the said University of Otago in the same manner, and upon the same terms, and under and subject to the same powers and restrictions, as its other lands are held.

Schedule

ALL that piece of land known as Benmore Run, containing by estimation 100,000 acres, more or less, and comprised in a grant from the Crown, dated the 15th day of January, 1873, to the Superintendent of Otago and his successors in trust as an endowment for the University of Otago; the said grant being numbered 14582, and registered in the District Land Registry of Otago, Vol vi, folio 297.
