An Act to change the Purposes for which certain Lands in the Borough of New Plymouth are held by the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses.

    The Preamble was repealed, as from 19 November 1907, by section 2 Statutes Repeal Act 1907 (1907 No 40).

BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title
  • The Short Title of this Act is The New Plymouth Borough Reserves and Street Exchanges Act 1898.

2 Purposes for which lands described in Schedule held changed
  • From and after the passing of this Act the parcels of land in the Borough of New Plymouth described in the First Column of the Schedule hereto, now held by the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of New Plymouth for the purposes specified opposite thereto respectively in the Second Column of the said Schedule, shall be held by the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of New Plymouth for the purposes specified opposite thereto respectively in the Third Column of the said Schedule.

All that parcel of land in the Town of New Plymouth, containing 30.86 perches, being Sections Nos 6B and 7B. Bounded towards the north, 132 links, by Ariki Street; towards the north-east, 161 links, by Section No 4B; towards the east, 20.1 links, by Sections Nos 12B and 8B; towards the south, 247.22 links, by King Street; and towards the west, 74.83 links, by Egmont Street.Section No 6B(30.83 perches), as areserve for the site of a Town Hall and public lecture-rooms; Section No 7B (0.03 of a perch), as part of a street.As a reserve and endowment for the improvement and benefit of the Town of New Plymouth.

Bounded towards the north, 100 links, by Ariki Street; towards the east, 141.1 links, by Lots Nos 43, 44, 45, Mt Eliot Reserve (another part of said Section No 4B), and by Section No 9B; towards the south, 100 links, by King Street; towards the west, 3.3 links, by Section No 7B; again towards the north, 14.4 links, by Section No 12B; towards the south-west, 21.24 links, by said Section No 12B; and again towards the west, 121 links, by another part of said Section No 4B.Lot 1 of Section No 4B (21.35 perches), as a reserve and endowment for the improvement and benefit of the Town of New Plymouth; Section No 8B (1.03 perches), as part of a street.As a reserve for the site of a Town Hall and public lecture-rooms.

Bounded towards the north-west and north, 130 links, by part of King Street; towards the east, 20 links, by Brougham Street; and towards the south, 124.97 links, by Section No 647, Lot 5, Mangotuku, and Section No 10B respectively.As part of a street, and as part of the bed of the Mangotuku Stream.As a street.
