Hawera Technical School Site Exchange Act 1908

An Act to vest a certain Reserve in the Education Board of the District of Wanganui for the Purposes of a Technical-school Site at Hawera, and in Exchange therefor to vest another Reserve in the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Hawera.

  • Preamble

    WHEREAS the land described in Schedule 1 hereto is vested in the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Hawera in trust as a reserve for municipal purposes: And whereas the land described in Schedule 2 hereto is by section nineteen of the Reserves, Endowments, and Crown and Maori Lands Exchange, Sale, Disposal, and Enabling Act 1898, set apart as a site for a technical school, and is within the Education District of Wanganui:

    And whereas the land described in Schedule 1 hereto is more suitable for the purposes of a site for a technical school than the land set apart as a site for a technical school; and it has been arranged, with the consent of the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Hawera, and with the consent of the Education Board of the District of Wanganui, that the land described in Schedule 1 hereto should be vested in the Education Board of the District of Wanganui as a site for a technical school, and that the land described in Schedule 2 hereto should be vested in the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Hawera as a reserve for municipal purposes, and it is expedient to give effect to such arrangement:

    The reference to “Maori” was substituted, as from 27 November 1947, for a reference to “Native” pursuant to section 2(2) Maori Purposes Act 1947 (1947 No 59).

BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Short Title

  • This Act may be cited as the Hawera Technical School Site Exchange Act 1908.

2 Land vested in Wanganui Education Board

  • The land described in Schedule 1 hereto is hereby vested in the Education Board of the District of Wanganui as a site for a technical school.

3 Land vested in Hawera Borough

  • The land described in Schedule 2 hereto is hereby vested in the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Hawera as a reserve for municipal purposes.

Schedule 1

ALL that area in the Taranaki Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 rood 1.4 perches, more or less, being Allotment No 1, Section 19, Town of Hawera: bounded towards the north-east by Allotment No 7, Section 21, 213 links; towards the south-east by Allotment No 11, Section 19, 121.6 links; towards the south-west by Allotment No 2, Section 19, 213 links; and towards the north-west by Princes Street, 121 links.

Schedule 2

ALL that area in the Taranaki Land District, containing by admeasurement 20 perches, more or less, being part of Section No 15 of Block XIX, Town of Hawera, and bounded as follows: towards the south-east by Albion Street, 111 links; towards the south-west by High Street, 113 links; and towards the north-west and north-east by other parts of Section No 15 aforesaid, 111 and 113 links respectively.
