Wellington City and Suburban Districts Ambulance Transport Service Act 1927

An Act to enable the Wellington City Council and other Local Authorities in and around Wellington, the Wellington Harbour Board, and the Wellington Hospital Board to make Contributions to the Ambulance Transport Service established for the Wellington Hospital District.

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Short Title
  • This Act may be cited as the Wellington City and Suburban Districts Ambulance Transport Service Act 1927.

2 Contributions by local authorities in and around Wellington City to the New Zealand Free Ambulance Transport Service (Wellington Branch) Incorporated
  • (1) The local authorities and other Boards mentioned hereunder are hereby authorized and empowered to pay to the New Zealand Free Ambulance Transport Service (Wellington Branch), Incorporated (hereinafter termed the Ambulance Service), on or before the thirty-first day of March, nineteen hundred and twenty-eight, the sums set opposite their respective titles herein:—

    (2) Any payments made to the Ambulance Service before the passing of this Act by any of the before-mentioned local authorities or Boards are hereby validated, and shall be deemed to have been made in full or part satisfaction of the sums hereinbefore authorized to be paid by any such local authority or Board.

    (3) The Wellington Harbour Board is hereby authorized to transfer to the Ambulance Service, either absolutely or for such term and on such conditions as the Board in its absolute discretion thinks fit, its motor-ambulance and plant.

    (4) The Wellington Hospital Board is hereby authorized to transfer to the Ambulance Service its motor-ambulance and plant by way of bailment or loan, on such conditions and for such term as it thinks fit, and particularly subject to this condition that the whole of the Wellington Hospital District is served by the Ambulance Service.

3 Power to Wellington City to consent to transfer of lease from Wellington Navals Boating Society to the Ambulance Service free from certain restrictions
  • The Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the City of Wellington are hereby authorized to consent to the assignment of lease contained in memorandum of lease, registered Number 9626, Wellington Registry, of that piece of land situated in the City of Wellington, containing ten and fifty-six hundredths perches, being Lot 4 on a plan deposited in the Lands Registry Office at Wellington as Number 2428, part of Reserve K, and being part of the land comprised in certificate of title, Volume 193, folio 193, from the Wellington Navals Boating Society to the Ambulance Service; and, notwithstanding anything contained in the said lease, to permit the Ambulance Service to hold and use the said land for the balance of the term created by the said lease for the purposes of an ambulance station and freed from the restrictions as to user contained in the said lease.
