Palmerston North Library Empowering Act 1927

2 Council may erect building for library purposes, also shops and offices, and raise special loan

• The Palmerston North Borough Council (hereinafter called the Council) is hereby empowered and authorized—

  • (a) To erect, construct, and maintain upon Section 671, Palmerston North (being all the land included in certificate of title, Volume 313, folio 148, Wellington Registry), a building or buildings to be used as a library and also containing such shops and offices as the Council shall think fit:

  • (b) To utilize the said shops and offices or any of them for such purposes as the Council shall from time to time think fit:

  • (c) To let or lease in the manner prescribed by The Local Government Act 1974, the said shops and offices or any of them:

  • (d) To raise a special loan under The Local Authorities Loans Act 1956, for such an amount as the Council shall think fit, and to expend the money so raised in the erection and construction of such building or buildings.

  A reference to The Municipal Corporations Act 1933 was substituted, as from 20 December 1933, for a reference to The Municipal Corporations Act 1920 pursuant to section 393(1) Municipal Corporations Act 1933 (1933 No 30). That reference was in turn substituted, as from 1 October 1954, by a reference to The Municipal Corporations Act 1954 pursuant to section 413 Municipal Corporations Act 1954 (1954 No 76). That reference was in turn substituted, as from 1 April 1980, by a reference to The Local Government Act 1974 pursuant to section 9(1) Local Government Amendment Act 1979 (1979 No 59).

  The reference to The Local Authorities Loans Act 1956 was substituted, as from 1 April 1957, for a reference to The Local Bodies' Loans Act 1926 pursuant to section 135(1) of the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956 (1956 No 63).
