Sumner Borough Land Vesting Act 1929

An Act to vest Part of the Foreshore within Sumner Estuary, opposite Shag Rock, between Christchurch Tramway Causeway and the Christchurch-Sumner Road, in the Corporation of the Borough of Sumner.

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Short Title
  • This Act may be cited as the Sumner Borough Land Vesting Act, 1929.

2 Deemed a special Act
  • This Act shall be deemed to be a special Act within the meaning of The Harbours Act 1950.

    The reference to The Harbours Act 1950 was substituted, as from 15 October 1950, for a reference to The Harbours Act 1923 pursuant to section 269(1) Harbours Act 1950 (1950 No 34).

3 Vesting land in Corporation
  • (1) On the passing of this Act the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall vest in and be the property of the Corporation of the Borough of Sumner.

    (2) Nothing in The Harbours Act 1950, relating to the disposition of tidal lands or to the construction of works thereon shall apply to the lands hereby vested.

    The reference to The Harbours Act 1950 was substituted, as from 15 October 1950, for a reference to The Harbours Act 1923 pursuant to section 269(1) Harbours Act 1950 (1950 No 34).

  • (a) All that piece of land, being part of the estuary of the Heathcote and Avon Rivers, situated in Block II of the Sumner Survey District, and containing by admeasurement 1 acre 1 rood 34 perches, more or less, and bounded as follows: commencing at a point 13772.52 links north and 9262.77 links east of the trig station on Mount Pleasant, and running on a bearing of 107° 25′ 30″ for a distance of 1224.1 links; thence bearing 84° 50′ for 78.55 links; thence bearing 86° 25′ 30″ for a distance of 1224.1 links; thence bearing 84° 50′ for 78.55 links; thence bearing 86° 25′ 30″ for a distance of 1224.1 links; thence bearing 84° 25′ 30″ for a distance of 1224.1 links; thence bearing 84° 50′ for 78.55 links; thence bearing 86° 50′ for 78.55 links; thence bearing 86° 33′ for 100.05 links; thence bearing 92° 48′ for 101 links; thence bearing 87° 01′ for 24.95 links; thence bearing 287° 25′ 30″ for 1723.25 links; thence bearing 132° 40′ for 234.5 links, back to the commencing-point: as the said piece of land is more particularly delineated, coloured pink and edged green, and marked Lot 1, on the plan deposited in the office of the Marine Department at Wellington, and marked MD 6491.
