Dunedin City Corporation Empowering Amendment Act 1930

  • Preamble

    WHEREAS by The Dunedin City Corporation Empowering Act 1924, the said Corporation is empowered, inter alia, to impound, collect, divert, and take away for its absolute use and benefit all the waters in the Waipori River for the purpose of generating electricity and supplying the same as motive power and for lighting and for any other purpose whatsoever: And whereas the said Corporation is also empowered to erect dams or weirs across the said river to a height and on such sites as are specified in the hereinbefore-recited Act: And whereas doubts have arisen as to the powers of the said Corporation to erect dams or weirs at sites other than those indicated or referred to in the hereinbefore-recited Act: And whereas the said Corporation is now desirous of erecting other dams or weirs in the said river to the intent that the waters of the said river may be again used at a site or sites below the position of the main generating-station of the electricity undertaking of the said Corporation for the purpose of generating electricity as provided by the said Act: And whereas it is advisable that such doubts should be removed:

BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
