An Act to amend the Order in Council altering the boundaries of the County of Hutt and the City of Upper Hutt by amending the provisions for representation and by revoking the provisions for divisions for the purpose of finance
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
(1) This Act may be cited as the Upper Hutt City (Representation and Financial Unification) Act 1977.
(2) Except as provided in section 4(2) of this Act, this Act shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st day of April 1977.
In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,—
Order means the Order in Council made on the 15th day of January 1973, published in Gazette, 1973, Volume I, at page 75, altering the boundaries of the County of Hutt and the City of Upper Hutt.
Clauses 6 and 7 of the order are hereby revoked.
(1) Clause 9 of the order is hereby amended by omitting the figures “17”, “4”, and “12”, and substituting respectively the figures “12”, “3”, and “8”.

(2) The reduction in the number of members of the Upper Hutt City Council under subsection (1) of this section shall take effect in respect of the first triennial general election of members of that Council held after the passing of this Act except so far and to such extent as may be necessary for providing for that election.
