WHEREAS by grant from the Crown bearing date the 4th day of December 1872 all that piece or parcel of land in the Province of Canterbury in the Colony of New Zealand situate in tile Malvern District and containing by admeasurement 447 acres more air less being Reserve numbered 424 (in red) on the map of the Chief Surveyor of the Province of Canterbury setting out and describing the rural land in the Malvern District aforesaid was granted unto the Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury and his successors in trust for the uses of the Provincial Government and particularly as a depot for Police purposes: AND WHEREAS it is expedient to appropriate or set apart that portion of the said Reserve described in the Schedule hereto as a site for a telegraph office and for other purposes of public utility connected with the administration of the General Government of New Zealand.
