Anno Tricessimo Octavio Victoriae Reginae
WHEREAS by Grant from the Crown bearing date the 24th day of July 1865 all that piece or parcel of land in the Province of Canterbury in the Colony of New Zealand situate in the Timaru District and containing by admeasurement 10 acres more of less being Reserve numbered 168 (in red) on the map of the Chief Surveyor of the said Province of Canterbury setting out and describing the rural land in the Timaru District aforesaid with all the rights and appurtenances thereunto belonging was granted unto the Superintendent of the said Province of Canterbury and his successors in trust as a site for a Cemetery: AND WHEREAS by the Public Reserves Act 1854 under and by virtue of which the aforesaid grant was made it is enacted that the specific purposes for which any lands granted under the said Act within any Province should be held might be changed and the same lands might be appropriated to other and different purposes of public utility for the public service of such Province: AND WHEREAS it has become necessary in respect of the parcel of land described in the Schedule hereto: and being part of the aforesaid land to alter the purpose for which the same is held as hereinafter described.
