Invercargill Public Offices Site Act 1875

An Act to vest in Her Majesty the Queen the Provincial Government Building Reserve situate in Invercargill, and to authorize the Invercargill Athenaeum to exchange a piece of Land held by it for a piece of Land intended by this Act to be vested in Her Majesty.

  • Preamble

    WHEREAS under The Public Reserves Act 1854, the piece of land described in Schedule 1 hereto was, amongst others, on or about the twenty-eighth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-four, granted by the then Governor of the Colony of New Zealand to the Superintendent of the Province of Southland and his successors as sites for Provincial Government buildings: And whereas under the powers contained in The Invercargill Athenaeum Reserve Management Ordinance 1871, the piece of land described in Schedule 2 hereto was transferred to and vested in the Invercargill Athenaeum: And whereas it is desired to vest the piece of land described in Schedule 1 hereto, except such portion as is described in Schedule 2 hereto, in the General Government of the Colony as the site for public offices: And also to exchange the piece of land described in Schedule 3 hereto, being part of the lands vested as aforesaid in the Invercargill Athenaeum, for the piece of land described in Schedule 4 hereto.

BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
