Public Reserves Sale Act 1888

An Act to authorise the Sale or other Disposition of certain Public Reserves.

  • Preamble

    WHEREAS the lands in the Schedule hereto have been duly reserved for certain purposes of public utility, and are no longer required for such purposes: And whereas all the said lands are now vested in Her Majesty, and it is expedient that the same should be sold or otherwise disposed of, as hereinafter provided:

BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Short Title
  • The Short Title of this Act is the Public Reserves Sale Act 1888.

2 Reserves in Schedule may be sold or otherwise disposed of
  • The Governor may from time to time declare that all or any of the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be reserved, and thereupon may from time to time direct that all or any of the said lands may be sold or otherwise disposed of under the Land Act 1885, or any Act amending the same:

    Provided that none of the lands mentioned in the said Schedule which are within the Canterbury Land District shall be available for selection by the New Zealand Midland Railway Company (Limited) under any contract already made between Her Majesty the Queen and the said Company, or that may hereafter be made between the same parties, under the provisions of the Midland Railway Contract Act 1887.


Schedule

  • That portion of the Schedule relating to Sections 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12, Waitara East (Town), was repealed, as from 24 December 1909, by section 5 Waitara Borough Reserves Vesting Act 1909 (1909 No 42(L)).
