Title


An Act to amend certain enactments of the General Assembly.

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Short Title
  • This Act may be cited as the Statutes Amendment Act 1951.

Canterbury University College

2 Constitution of Council
  • [Repealed]

    Section 2 was repealed, as from 16 October 1957, by section 10(2) University of Canterbury Amendment Act 1957 (1957 No 26).

Counties

3 Sections to be read with Counties Act 1920

Infants

14 Power of infant to enter into contract with prior approval of District Court

    Section 14 was repealed, as from 1 January 1970, by section 19 Minors Contracts Act 1969 (1969 No 41).

    The words District Court were substituted for the words Magistrates Court, as from 1 April 1980, pursuant to section 18(1) District Courts Amendment Act 1979 (1979 No 125).

15 Consents required before adoption

Land settlement finance

Nelson College

19 Constitution of Council of Governors of Nelson College
  • (1) This section and section thirty-eight of the Finance Act 1931 (No 2) shall be read together with and deemed part of the Nelson College Act 1858.

    (2) Subsection one of section thirty-eight of the Finance Act 1931 (No 2) is hereby amended—

    • (a) By omitting the words Five Governors, and substituting the words Two Governors:

    • (b) By omitting the words Two Governors elected by the parents, and substituting the words Three Governors elected by the parents:

    • (c) By adding the following words:—

      One Governor appointed by the Executive of the Old Pupils' Association of Nelson College, Incorporated:

      One Governor appointed by the Executive of the Old Pupils' Association of Nelson Girls' College.

    (3) This section shall come into force on the first day of June, nineteen hundred and fifty-two.

New Zealand university

20 Agricultural Colleges to have representatives on Senate

    Section 20 was repealed, as from 1 January 1962, by section 60 Universities Act 1961 (1961 No 54).

Nurses and midwives

21 Section 28 of Nurses and Midwives Act 1945 (as to annual practising certificates) amended
  • [Repealed]

    Sections 21 and 22 were repealed, as from 1 April 1972, by section 60(1) Nurses Act 1971 (1971 No 78).

22 Power to make regulations as to practice of midwifery and maternity nursing. Repeal
  • [Repealed]

    Sections 21 and 22 were repealed, as from 1 April 1972, by section 60(1) Nurses Act 1971 (1971 No 78).

Public works

23 Basis of compensation
  • [Repealed]

    Section 23 was repealed, as from 1 February 1982, by section 248 Public Works Act 1981 (1981 No 35).

School of Agriculture

24 Repeal of School of Agriculture Act 1937 and its amendments
  • (1) The following enactments are hereby repealed:—

    • (a) The School of Agriculture Act 1937:

    (2) Section twenty of the Education Amendment Act 1948 is hereby amended by omitting from subsection one the words or the New Zealand School of Agriculture.

    (3) Section fifteen of the Education Lands Act 1949 is hereby amended by omitting from subsection one the words School of Agriculture.

    (4) This section shall come into force on the first day of January, nineteen hundred and fifty-two.

Stock

25 Control of artificial insemination of stock

    Section 25 was repealed, as from 16 November 1967, by section 109 Animals Act 1967 (1967 No 50).

Wages protection and contractors' liens

26 Duty to retain part of contract price
  • [Repealed]

    Section 26 was repealed, as from 23 October 1952, by section 2(2) Wages Protection and Contractor's Liens Amendment Act 1952 (1952 No 59).

    The references to four thousand dollars, sixteen thousand dollars, thirty thousand dollars, one hundred and fifty thousand dollars, and two hundred thousand dollars were substituted, as from 10 July 1967, for a references to two thousand pounds, eight thousand pounds, fifteen thousand pounds, seventy-five thousand pounds, and one hundred thousand pounds pursuant to section 7(1) Decimal Currency Act 1964 (1964 No 27).
