Sovereign's Birthday Observance Act 1952

2 Date of observance of birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
  • Where in any Act, award, collective agreement, or other agreement, or in any order of any Court or in any other instrument of authority, reference is or was made to the Sovereign's birthday, that reference, instead of being a reference to the 21st day of April, shall, unless the context otherwise requires,—

    • (a) In respect of the year 1952, be deemed to be and to have been a reference to the 2nd day of June:

    • (b) In respect of the year 1953, be deemed to be a reference to a day to be appointed in that behalf by the Governor-General by Proclamation:

    • (c) In respect of every year of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second after the year 1953, be deemed to be a reference to the first Monday in June.

    Section 2 was amended by section 234(2)(e) Industrial Relations Act 1973 by substituting the words collective agreement for the words industrial agreement.
