(1) There shall continue to be a Council to be known as the Radiation Protection Advisory Council.
(2) The Council shall consist of—
(a) The Director-General:
(b) The Director of the National Radiation Laboratory of the Ministry of Health:
(c) [Repealed]
(d) Two persons, each of whom shall be either a radiologist or a radiotherapist:
(e) A medical practitioner:
(f) Two persons who by reason of academic or technical training have relevant knowledge of, or experience in, the use of ionising or non-ionising radiation, and of whom at least 1 is a qualified physicist.
(3) The members of the Council specified in paragraphs (d) to (f) of subsection (2) of this section shall be appointed by the Minister.
Subsection (1) was amended, as from 23 December 1977, by section 2(3) Radiation Protection Amendment Act 1977 (1977 No 171) by substituting “Radiation Protection Advisory Council”
for “Radiological Advisory Council”

Section 5 was substituted, as from 6 November 1986, by section 2 Radiation Protection Amendment Act 1986 (1986 No 107).
The words “Ministry of Health”
in subsection (2)(b) were substituted for “Department of Health”
pursuant to section 38(3) Health Amendment Act 1993 (1993 No 24).
Subsection (2)(c) was repealed, as from 1 July 1992, by section 46(1) Crown Research Institute Act 1992 (1992 No 47).
Subsection (2)(f) was substituted, as from 1 July 1992, by section 46(1) Crown Research Institute Act 1992 (1992 No 47).
