20 Saving of powers to make bylaws

• Nothing in this Part of this Act shall limit or affect the powers of a local authority under section 145(b) of the Local Government Act 2002, to make bylaws providing greater protection from tobacco smoke than is provided by this Part of this Act.

  Section 20 was amended, as from 1 July 1993, by section 32 Health Reforms (Transitional Provisions) Act 1993 (1993 No 23) by omitting the words “of an area health board under section 64(1)(a) of the Health Act 1956, or”.

  Section 20 was amended, as from 1 July 2003, by section 262 Local Government Act 2002 (2002 No 84) by substituting the words “section 145(b) of the Local Government Act 2002” for the words “section 684(8) of the Local Government Act 1974”. See sections 273 to 314 of that Act as to the savings and transitional provisions.
