(1) For the purposes of enabling the grant of a temporary permit under the Immigration Act 1987 to any person in respect of whom a request is made under section 12 of this Act, the Attorney-General may issue a certificate, in writing, that the attendance of that person in New Zealand is necessary for the purposes of giving or providing evidence or assistance pursuant to that request.
(2) The Attorney-General may, at any time, by notice in writing, cancel any certificate issued under subsection (1) of this section in respect of any person who is in New Zealand pursuant to a request made under section 12 of this Act, if the Attorney-General is satisfied that the attendance of that person in New Zealand is no longer necessary for the purpose to which the request relates.
