3 Validation of cancellation of endorsements
An Act to amend the Passports Act 1992
BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of New Zealand as follows:
This Act may be cited as the Passports Amendment Act 1994, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Passports Act 1992 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
(1) This section applies to the cancellation of the endorsement of the name of a child on the passport of a parent or guardian of the child if it was effected by an officer before the commencement of this Act.
(2) Every cancellation to which this section applies is hereby deemed to have been and to continue to be as valid and effectual as if, at the time it was effected,—
(a) The amendment to section 34(1) of the principal Act effected by section 2 of this Act was in force; and
(b) There was in force under that section a delegation from the Minister to the officer who effected it of the Minister's powers under section 42 of the principal Act.
