7 Foundlings

(1)

A person who—

(a)

believes that a child in the person’s charge is recently born and was found abandoned in New Zealand; and

(b)

is not satisfied that a Registrar has been notified of the child’s birth—

shall as soon as is practicable tell a Police employee, who shall notify the Registrar-General.

(2)

As far as it is practicable to do so, the Registrar-General shall register the birth of all children of whose finding the Registrar-General is notified under subsection (1).
