Parliamentary Service Act 2000

Purposes

4 Purposes of this Act

The purposes of this Act are as follows:

(a)

to establish mechanisms for providing services and funding entitlements for parliamentary purposes:

(b)

to provide for the governance arrangements of the Parliamentary Service, in particular, by making the General Manager of the Parliamentary Service responsible to the Speaker:

(c)

to reconstitute the Parliamentary Service Commission as a policy body:

(d)

to provide for regular and independent reviews of the amounts appropriated in Appropriation Acts for services and funding to support the parliamentary operations of members of Parliament, parties, and qualifying electoral candidates:

(e)

to provide for the ownership and control of land and other assets held for parliamentary purposes.
