Electoral Amendment Act 2005

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title
  • (1) This Act is the Electoral Amendment Act 2005.

    (2) In this Act, the Electoral Act 1993 is called the principal Act.

2 Commencement
  • This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

3 Election of list candidates
  • (1) Section 127(4) of the principal Act is amended by omitting the words a copy of.

    (2) Section 127 of the principal Act is amended by repealing subsection (5), and substituting the following subsection:

    • (5) Every consent submitted under subsection (4)—

      • (a) must be in a form provided by the Chief Electoral Officer; and

      • (b) must be signed by the person concerned; and

      • (c) may be submitted by hand, post, or facsimile transmission.

    (3) Schedule 2 of the principal Act is consequentially amended by repealing form 5.
