The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title
  • (1) This Act is the Geneva Conventions Amendment Act 2005.

    (2) In this Act, the Geneva Conventions Act 1958 is called the principal Act.

2 Commencement
  • This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

3 Notice of trial of protected persons to be served on protecting power, etc
  • Section 4(1)(b) of the principal Act is amended by omitting the words to death or.

4 Appeals by protected persons
  • (1) Section 6(1) of the principal Act is amended by omitting the words to death or.

    (2) Section 6 of the principal Act is amended by repealing subsections (5) and (6).
