68 Money paid for things other than retirement benefits does not count as contribution under this Act


This section applies if money is paid to a provider of a KiwiSaver scheme in respect of all or any of—


the provision of retirement benefits for the member of the scheme; and


other things (for example, life insurance premiums).


The money paid in respect of the other things—


does not count as a contribution under this Act or towards the contribution rate; and


cannot be paid via the Commissioner.


This subpart does not require an employer to make deductions from salary or wages in respect of that money.


This section does not apply to permitted withdrawals.
