8 Transpower is system operator

(1)

The system operator is Transpower.

(2)

As well as acting as system operator for the electricity industry, the system operator must—

(a)

provide information, and short- to medium-term forecasting on all aspects of security of supply; and

(b)

manage supply emergencies.

(3)

The Code must—

(a)

specify the functions of the system operator; and

(b)

specify how the system operator’s functions are to be performed; and

(c)

set requirements relating to transparency and performance.

(4)

A failure to comply with subsection (2) is to be treated, for the purposes of enforcement under this Part, as a breach of the Code.
