6 Application of Act

• (1) This Act applies to people who are in the business of providing a financial service or a financial adviser service.

  (2) This Act does not apply to any of the following people:

  • (a) a lawyer in the course of that person’s professional practice as a lawyer:

  • (b) a chartered accountant in the course of that person’s professional practice as a chartered accountant:

  • (c) a prescribed Crown agency:

  • (d) an employee of a person listed in paragraph (a), (b), or (c):

  • (e) an employee of a financial service provider.

  (3) This Act does not apply with respect to financial services provided between related companies.
