General policy statement

The purpose of the Bill is to allow all retailers within districts covered by the Waitaki Electorate to trade on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Clause by clause analysis

Clause 1 is the Title clause.

Clause 2 is the commencement clause and provides that the Bill comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

Clause 3 states that the Bill amends the Shop Trading Hours Act Repeal Act 1990 (the principal Act).

Clause 4 is the interpretation clause.

Clause 5 inserts new section 4B to allow all retailers within districts covered by the Waitaki Electorate to trade on Good Friday or Easter Sunday.

Clause 6 adds new Schedule 2 to the principal Act.
