Deeds Register Office Regulations 1949

Note

These regulations are administered in the Land and Deeds Department.

  • Preamble

    WHEREAS by the Deeds Registration Act 1908, it is enacted that the Registrar-General of Land may from time to time, with the approval of the Governor-General in Council, make regulations as in the said Act mentioned, and generally for regulating the practice and procedure of the register offices under the said Act: Now, therefore, I, Ernest Claude Adams, Registrar-General of Land, in exercise of the power aforesaid and subject to the approval of the Governor-General in Council, do hereby make the following regulations.

  • These regulations may be cited as the Deeds Register Office Regulations 1949.

  • These regulations shall be read together with and deemed part of the regulations made under the Deeds Registration Act 1908, on the 27th day of February, 19141 (hereinafter called the principal regulations).

  • These regulations shall come into force on the 1st day of September, 1949.

  • Regulation 2 of the principal regulations, as replaced by Regulation 3 of the Deeds Register Office Regulations 19372, and as affected by Regulation 3 of the Deeds Register Office Regulations 19423, is hereby revoked, and the following regulation substituted:—

      • “(a) Every Deeds Register Office shall be open to the public for the transaction of business daily except on Sundays, Saturdays, and holidays.

      • “(b) The hours during which the Deeds Register Office shall be so open shall be from 9am to 4pm”

  • Regulation 3 of the principal regulations, as replaced by Regulation 4 of the Deeds Register Office Regulations 1937, and as affected by Regulation 3 of the Deeds Register Office Regulations 1942, is hereby revoked, and the following regulation substituted:—

    “3

    • No instrument shall be received for registration or deposit except between the hours of 10am and 0.30pm and between the hours of 1.30pm and 3pm.”

  • The Deeds Register Office Regulations 1937 and the Deeds Register Office Regulations 1942, are hereby revoked.
