These regulations are administered in the Department of Island Territories.
WHEREAS by subsection (2) of section 1 of the Cook Islands Constitution Act 1964 it is provided that that Act shall come into force on a date to be appointed for the commencement thereof by the Governor-General by Proclamation:
Now, therefore, pursuant to the said Act, I, Major-General the Right Honourable Sir Harold Eric Barrowclough, the Administrator of the Government of New Zealand, hereby proclaim as follows:
This Proclamation may be cited as the Cook Islands Constitution Act Commencement Order 1965.
The Cook Islands Constitution Act 1964 shall come into force at the hour of half past ten in the evening on the 4th day of August 1965, being the time in New Zealand corresponding to the commencement of that date in the Cook Islands.
