Private Schools Conditional Integration Act Commencement Order 1981

This order is administered in the Department of Education.


PURSUANT to section 1(2) of the Private Schools Conditional Integration Act 1975, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

1 Title and commencement
  • (1) This order may be cited as the Private Schools Conditional Integration Act Commencement Order 1981.

    (2) This order shall come into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.

2 Commencement of section 58 of Private Schools Conditional Integration Act 1975

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order brings into force from 1 February 1981 section 58 of the Private Schools Conditional Integration Act 1975, which provides for the acceptance into State teachers colleges, on the same conditions and subject to the same selection procedures as other applicants, of persons belonging to or intending to enter religious orders; and persons who have taught in private schools. It also enables teachers colleges to offer courses related specifically to aspects of teaching in integrated schools.
