Misuse of Drugs Order 1981

PURSUANT to section 4 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

Order

1 Title and commencement
  • (1) This order may be cited as the Misuse of Drugs Order 1981.

    (2) This order shall come into force on the 14th day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.

2 Schedule 1 of Act amended
  • Schedule 1 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975 is hereby amended by inserting in clause 1, in their appropriate alphabetical order, the following names of substances:

    PCE (N-ethyl-1-phenylcyclohexylamine).

    PCPY}

    PHP} (1-(1-phenylcyclohexyl) pyrrolidine).

    TCP (1-[1-(2-thienyl) cyclohexyl] piperidine).

3 Schedule 2 of Act amended
  • (1) [Revoked]

    (2) Part 3 of Schedule 2 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975 is hereby amended by inserting in clause 1,in their appropriate alphabetical order, the names of the following substances:

    MECLOQUALONE (3-(2-chlorophenyl)-2-methyl-4(3H)-quinazolinone).

    SUFENTANIL-(N-[4 (methoxymethyl)-1-[2-(2-thienyl) ethyl]-4-piperidyl] propionanilide).

    TILIDINE ((±)-ethyl trans-2-(dimethylamino)-1-phenyl-3-cyclohexene-1-carboxylate).

    Regulation 3(1): revoked, on 13 January 1988, by section 9(4) of the Misuse of Drugs Amendment Act (No 2) 1987 (1987 No 193).

4 Schedule 3 of Act amended
  • Part 1 of Schedule 3 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975 is hereby amended by inserting in clause 1, in its appropriate alphabetical order, the name of the substance Catha edulis plant.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order is made pursuant to section 4 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975. It effects a number of amendments to certain Schedules to that Act, most of which are in line with changes agreed to by the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs.
