His Excellency the Governor-General by his Deputy in Council

Pursuant to section 2 of the Commonwealth Countries Act 1977, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

Order

1 Title and commencement
  • (1) This order may be cited as the Commonwealth Countries (Vanuatu, Belize, and Antigua and Barbuda) Order 1982.

    (2) Clause 2 shall be deemed to have come into force on 30 July 1980.

    (3) Clause 3 shall be deemed to have come into force on 21 September 1981.

    (4) Clause 4 shall be deemed to have come into force on 1 November 1981.

2 Vanuatu
  • Schedule 1 of the Commonwealth Countries Act 1977 is hereby amended by inserting, after the expression United Kingdom, the expression Vanuatu.

3 Belize
  • The said schedule is hereby further amended by inserting, after the expression Barbados, the expression Belize.

4 Antigua and Barbuda
  • The said schedule is hereby further amended by inserting before the expression Australia, the expression Antigua and Barbuda.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order adds Vanuatu, Belize, and Antigua and Barbuda, to the list of countries that are independent sovereign members of the Commonwealth specified in Schedule 1 of the Commonwealth Countries Act 1977. They are all added retroactively, from 30 July 1980, 21 September 1981, and 1 November 1981, respectively.
