  • Preamble

    WHEREAS, in accordance with section 46(1) of the Maori Trust Boards Act 1955, nominations for election to membership of the Aorangi Maori Trust Board should have been called on or before the 31st day of March 1980 but were not in fact called until November 1982: And whereas the 7 persons named in the Schedule to the following order were then nominated as candidates for election to membership of the said Board: And whereas, by virtue of regulation 2(1) of the Maori Trust Board Regulations 1960 the total membership of the Board is 7: And whereas, had nominations been called, and the persons named in the Schedule to the following order been nominated, within the periods prescribed in the said Act, those persons would have been deemed by section 48(2) of the said Act to have been duly elected as members of the said Board in accordance with their nominations:

    NOW, THEREFORE, PURSUANT to section 55 of the said Act, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

1 Title and commencement
  • (1) This order may be cited as the Aorangi Maori Trust Board Order 1983.

    (2) This order shall come into force on the 1st day of September 1983.

2 Validation of nominations
  • The persons named in the Schedule to this order are hereby deemed to have been validly nominated for election to membership of the Aorangi Maori Trust Board.

3 Term of office fixed
  • The persons named in the Schedule to this order, being deemed by section 48(2) of the Maori Trust Boards Act 1955 to have been duly elected as members of the Aorangi Maori Trust Board in accordance with their nominations (as validated by clause 2 of this order), shall hold office for a term commencing with the 1st day of September 1983 and ending with the 31st day of July 1985.
