PURSUANT to section 1(3) of the State Services Conditions of Employment Amendment Act (No 2) 1985, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

1 Title
  • This order may be cited as the State Services Conditions of Employment Amendment Act Commencement Order 1986.

2 Commencement of section 3 of State Service Conditions of Employment Amendment Act (No 2) 1985
  • Section 3 of the State Services Conditions of Employment Amendment Act (No 2) 1985 shall come into force on the 1st day of September 1986.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order brings into force, on 1 September 1986, section 3 of the State Services Conditions of Employment Amendment Act (No 2) 1985.

The new section recognises that, as from its coming into force on 1 September 1986,—

  • (a) The remuneration of dentists employed as dental officers in the Health Service (other than dentists employed as junior dental officers in the Health Service) is to be determined by the Higher Salaries Commission; and

  • (b) The remuneration of final year students, resident medical officers, and trainee interns in the Health Service is to be determined no longer by the Higher Salaries Commission; and

  • (c) The remuneration and other conditions of employment of junior dental officers in the Health Service and of final year students, resident medical officers, and trainee interns in the Health Service are to be prescribed by determination under the State Services Conditions of Employment Act 1977.
