Transport (Vehicle and Driver Registration and Licensing) Amendment Act Commencement Order (No 2) 1993

This order is administered in the Ministry of Transport.


PURSUANT to section 1(2) of the Transport (Vehicle and Driver Registration and Licensing) Amendment Act 1992, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

1 Title
  • This order may be cited as the Transport (Vehicle and Driver Registration and Licensing) Amendment Act Commencement Order (No 2) 1993.

2 Commencement of certain provisions of Transport (Vehicle and Driver Registration and Licensing) Amendment Act 1992
  • Sections 3(2), 19, 21(1), 21(2), 21(3), and 21(5) of the Transport (Vehicle and Driver Registration and Licensing) Amendment Act 1992 shall come into force on the 5th day of November 1993.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order brings into force, on 5 November 1993, sections 3(2), 19, 21(1), 21(2), 21(3), and 21(5) of the Transport (Vehicle and Driver Registration and Licensing) Amendment Act 1992.

Section 3(2) changes from $100 per day to $1,000 in total the maximum fine that may be imposed for an offence of operating an unlicensed or unregistered motor vehicle.

Section 19 inserts into the principal Act new section 35A, which authorises the making of regulations relating to exemptions and fees.

Section 21(1) authorises the making of regulations relating to ambulance identification cards.

Section 21(2) authorises the making of regulations relating to the approval of persons to carry out audits of holders of certificates of approval.

Section 21(3) extends the power to make regulations prescribing fees payable under the Act.

Section 21(5) provides for certificates of approval, the audit of certificate holders, the suspension or revocation of certificates, and appeal rights of certificate holders.
