Motor Vehicle Dealers Amendment Act Commencement Order 1994

PURSUANT to section 4(4) of the Motor Vehicle Dealers Amendment Act 1994, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

1 Title
  • This order may be cited as the Motor Vehicle Dealers Amendment Act Commencement Order 1994.

2 Commencement of section 4 of Motor Vehicle Dealers Amendment Act 1994
  • Section 4 of the Motor Vehicle Dealers Amendment Act 1994 shall come into force on the 1st day of October 1994.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order brings into force, on 1 October 1994, section 4 of the Motor Vehicle Dealers Amendment Act 1994. The effect of the order is that, from that date, applicants for the issue of a motor vehicle dealer's licence will be required to have had, in the previous 3 years, not less than 2 years' business experience. Currently, applicants for a licence are required to be registered salesmen and to have had, in the previous 3 years, not less than 2 years' sales experience.
