Customs and Excise Amendment Act Commencement Order 1996

This order is administered in the New Zealand Customs.


PURSUANT to section 1(2) of the Customs and Excise Amendment Act 1996, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

1 Title
  • This order may be cited as the Customs and Excise Amendment Act Commencement Order 1996.

2 Commencement of Customs and Excise Amendment Act 1996
  • The Customs and Excise Amendment Act 1996 shall come into force on the 1st day of October 1996.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order brings into force, on 1 October 1996, the Customs and Excise Amendment Act 1996. The Customs and Excise Amendment Act 1996 makes the amendments to the Customs and Excise Act 1996 that are required to implement in that Act the provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
