This order is administered in the Ministry of Fisheries.
PURSUANT to section 1(2) of the Fisheries Act 1996, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.
This order may be cited as the Fisheries Act Commencement Order 1997.
Section 369 and Part 4 of Schedule 9 of the Fisheries Act 1996 come into force on 1 April 1997.

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order brings into force, on 1 April 1997, section 369 and Part 4 of Schedule 9 of the Fisheries Act 1996.
Section 369 is a transitional provision that subjects Northland scallops to the quota management system under Part 2A of the Fisheries Act 1983, and provides for the allocation of scallop quota to the persons named in Part 4 of Schedule 9 of the Fisheries Act 1996.
