PURSUANT to section 75C of the War Pensions Act 1954, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

Order

1 Title and commencement
  • (1) This order may be cited as the War Pensions (Total Deafness) Order 1997.

    (2) This order comes into force on 9 April 1997.

2 Full pension payable for total deafness on and after 9 April 1997
  • Schedule 9 of the War Pensions Act 1954 is amended by omitting the expression 85 where it appears immediately opposite the words Total deafness, and substituting the expression 100.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order increases the percentage of pension payable in cases of total disablement from total deafness from 85% to 100%. The order comes into force on 9 April 1997.
