Fisheries Act Commencement Order (No 2) 1997

Note

This order is administered in the Ministry of Fisheries.

PURSUANT to section 1(2) of the Fisheries Act 1996, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

This order may be cited as the Fisheries Act Commencement Order (No. 2) 1997.

2 Commencement of provisions relating to dispute resolution, Catch History Review Committee, and allocation mechanisms for new quota management species

The following provisions of the Fisheries Act 1996 come into force on 1 October 1997:
- (a) Part 7 (comprising sections 114 to 123) and section 356 (which relate to dispute resolution):
- (b) Sections 283 to 293 (which relate to the Catch History Review Committee):
- (c) Sections 30 to 41, 44 to 49, 51 to 55, 363, and 364, and Part 9 of Schedule 12 (which relate to the allocation of quota for new quota management species).

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order brings into force on 1 October 1997 provisions of the Fisheries Act 1996 that relate to dispute resolution, the Catch History Review Committee, and the allocation of quota for new quota management species.

Issued under the authority of the Acts and Regulations Publication Act 1989.
