Disputes Tribunals Amendment Rules 1998

These rules are administered in the Department for Courts.


PURSUANT to section 60 of the Disputes Tribunals Act 1988, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, makes the following rules.

1 Title and commencement
  • (1) These rules may be cited as the Disputes Tribunals Amendment Rules 1998, and are part of the Disputes Tribunals Rules 19891 (the principal rules).

    (2) These rules (other than rules 2 and 4) come into force on 4 September 1998.

    (3) Rules 2 and 4 come into force on 1 November 1998.

    Subclause (2) was substituted, and subclause (3) was inserted, as from 2 September 1998, by rule 2 Disputes Tribunals Amendment Rules (No 2) 1998 (SR 1998/248).

2 Fees
  • [Revoked]

    Subclause (1)(a) was amended, as from 23 October 1998, by rule 2 Disputes Tribunal Amendment Rules (No 3) 1998 (SR 1998/313), by substituting the expression $30 for the expression $50.

    Rule 2 was revoked, as from 15 October 2001, by clause 4(a) Disputes Tribunals Amendment Rules 2001 (SR 2001/107).

3 Forms
  • Form 2 in the Schedule of the principal rules is amended—

    • (a) by omitting the expression $3,000 in the note under the heading Agreement to Extend Jurisdiction, and substituting the expression $7,500; and

    • (b) by omitting the expression $5,000 in the note under the heading Agreement to Extend Jurisdiction, and substituting the expression $12,000.

    Rule 3: amended, on 19 May 2011, by rule 9(1) of the Disputes Tribunals Amendment Rules 2011 (SR 2011/104).

4 Revocation
  • The Disputes Tribunals Amendment Rules 1997 (SR 1997/323) are consequentially revoked.
