Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order brings into force, on 8 October 1998, section 20 of the Selwyn Plantation Board Empowering Act 1992.
That Act provides for the sale and transfer of forestry activities vested in the Selwyn Plantation Board to the Selwyn Plantation Board Limited, which is a company jointly owned by the Christchurch City Council and the Selwyn District Council. Section 20 of the Act provides for the abolition of the Selwyn Plantation Board by Order in Council.
Section 3 requires the Board to transfer its undertaking (as defined in the Act) to the Company within a period of 12 months after the date of commencement of the Act, or at a later date with the approval of the Minister of Local Government. The transfer of the Board's undertaking has now been completed, allowing for the abolition of the Board to take place.
