This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order brings into force, on 14 May 1999, section 100 of the Electricity Industry Reform Act 1998.
Part 8 of the Act allows the Electricity Corporation of New Zealand Limited (ECNZ) to be restructured into competing State enterprises.
With the split of ECNZ into competing State enterprises from 1 April 1999, it is now appropriate to bring into force section 100 of the Act, which provides for consequential amendments to other legislation.
With the commencement of this order, for the most part references to the
“Electricity Corporation of New Zealand Limited” in other legislation listed in Schedule 2 of the Act are to be replaced by references to
“a State enterprise within the meaning of the State-Owned Enterprises Act 1986”.
