Maori Trust Boards Amendment Regulations 1999

These regulations are administered in Te Puni Kokiri.


PURSUANT to section 56 of the Maori Trust Boards Act 1955, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.

1 Title and commencement
  • (1) These regulations may be cited as the Maori Trust Boards Amendment Regulations 1999, and are part of the Maori Trust Boards Regulations 19851 (the principal regulations).

    (2) These regulations come into force on the day after the date of their notification in the Gazette.

2 Manner of elections for membership of Te Runanga o Ngati Porou
  • Regulation 5B of the principal regulations is revoked.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on the day after the date of their notification in the Gazette, revoke regulation 5B of the Maori Trust Boards Regulations 1985. The effect of the revocation is to remove the requirement that votes in an election for the membership of Te Runanga o Ngati Porou be cast at hui pooti. The provisions in sections 51 to 53 of the Maori Trust Boards Act 1955 as to postal voting will apply instead.
