PURSUANT to section 5 of the Telecommunications Act 1987, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.

1 Title and commencement
  • (1) These regulations may be cited as the Telecommunications (International Services) Amendment Regulations 1999, and are part of the Telecommunications (International Services) Regulations 19941 (the principal regulations).

    (2) These regulations come into force on the 28th day after the date of their notification in the Gazette.

2 Conditions of registration
  • Regulation 6 of the principal regulations is amended by revoking paragraph (c).

3 Fees in respect of registration
  • Regulation 9 of the principal regulations is revoked.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on the 28th day after the date of their notification in the Gazette, revoke regulations 6(c) and 9 of the Telecommunications (International Services) Regulations 1994.

The effect of the amendments is to revoke the requirement for registered operators to pay an annual registration fee of $10,000.
