PURSUANT to section 4 of the Local Government (Millennium Events) Amendment Act 1999, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council and on the recommendation of the Minister of Local Government, makes the following order.

1 Title and commencement
  • (1) This order may be cited as the Local Government (Wellington City Council Millennium Events) Order 1999.

    (2) This order comes into force on 21 December 1999.

2 Wellington City Council district plan amended
  • The Wellington City Council's district plan is amended in the manner indicated in the Schedule.

  • The first paragraph of ordinance 3.32 is amended by adding the words except for any temporary structures required to be erected for the Millennium Event at Frank Kitts Park and Taranaki Street Wharf.

  • The Wellington City Council district plan is amended by inserting, after ordinance 15.5, the following ordinance:

    5.15A
    • Ordinance 5.15 does not apply in relation to the Millennium Event at Frank Kitts Park and Taranaki Street Wharf between the hours of 6 pm on 31 December and 7 am on 1 January 2000, but the noise level of the Millennium Event must not exceed 75 dBA received in any dwelling.

Explanatory Note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on 20 December 1999, amends the Wellington City Council district plan. The amendments are required so that certain ordinances in the Wellington City Council district plan are not breached as a result of the holding of events at Frank Kitts Park and Taranaki Street Wharf on New Year's Eve 1999/2000.
