Pursuant to section 1(2) of the Trade Marks Amendment Act 1999, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

1 Title
  • This order is the Trade Marks Amendment Act 1999 Commencement Order 2000.

2 Commencement of sections 3, 4, and 8 of Trade Marks Amendment Act 1999
  • Sections 3, 4, and 8 of the Trade Marks Amendment Act 1999 come into force on 1 April 2000.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order brings into force, on 1 April 2000, sections 3, 4, and 8 of the Trade Marks Amendment Act 1999.

Sections 3 and 4 of the Trade Marks Amendment Act 1999 amend the Trade Marks Act 1953 to provide for the registration and protection of collective trade marks. Section 8 of the Trade Marks Amendment Act 1999 makes consequential amendments to the Fair Trading Act 1986.
